🧠 One Idea

Warming up isn’t just jogging and stretching. That’s boring! —They’re a key to long-term athletic development. Try introducing movement based games!
It’s time to improve coordination, speed and agility all while keeping athletes engaged.

⚽ One Practical Example

Game: Mirror Movement

  • Set up a 5m line and then two cones 10-20m either side if the 5m area.

  • Pair players up—one leader, one follower.

  • Have them face on and the leader shuffles side to side between two cones 5m apart.

  • The leader then chooses which way they want to sprint and the aim is to get to the 10-20m cone before the follower can tag them.

  • Swap over roles

  • You can add turns, change the sprint distance or starting position.

It builds speed, footwork, reactions, body control—and gets players smiling too.

✅ One Action to Take This Week

Swap out one warm-up this week for a movement-based game that targets the same outcomes (agility, reactivity, body control).
Watch how much more focused, energised, and physically switched-on your players are.
