Be an Elite Coach:
One of my favorite aspects of coaching was finding time to observe other coaches in different sports.
While coaching in Leeds, I was fortunate to be close to many other sports, so I made the most of my connections and took the opportunity to speak with and observe other coaches whenever possible.
Although cricket was my primary sport, I spent time with coaches from football, rugby league, tennis, golf, athletics, endurance sports, and more.
Why did I do this?
To build a network and ensure people knew my name beyond my sport.
To transfer drills and coaching methods from one sport to another to solve common challenges.
To exchange ideas and ask questions to gain feedback from others.
To have fun and take a break from the routine of day-to-day coaching.
Even if it’s just through social media, I highly recommend reaching out and speaking to coaches or practitioners from different sports or areas of expertise!

How to Deliver Strength and Conditioning in 15 Minutes or Less
Here is my 15-minute bulletproof warm-up, guaranteed to leave athletes smiling while improving their movement and physical development!

Start with an Energizing Game – Engage your group right away. A game adds energy and gets them moving and interacting with teammates. Options include "Head, Shoulders, Knees, Cone," shoulder taps, or fun balance and coordination games. Just be cautious with intensity, as they aren't fully warmed up yet for maximum movement.
Dynamic Movement – Now it's time to mobilize, activate, and get them moving in various ranges to prepare their bodies for what's ahead.
Coach a Movement – This is your chance to make an impact on their movement in line with your session's goals. Choose a movement that is a key focus for your group or relevant to the main drill, such as jumping, acceleration, change of direction, balance, or throwing. Coach through some drills and add cues to enhance their technique.
High-Intensity Finish – End with a bang by pulling everything together. Choose a game or challenge that reinforces the movement you’ve just coached or sets the stage for the main session. Invasion games, obstacle courses, relay races, or introducing a different sport are great options. You can get creative here!
All of this can be done in 15 minutes, ensuring energy, focus, and the perfect start to your session!
